Adhering to organic farming practices, Esporão releases its classic Herdade do Esporão Reserva each year in partnership with artists who illustrate the labels, making each bottle unique to the harvest. The wine, made from traditional grape varieties, boasts a beautiful ruby colour and aromas of blackberries, nutmeg, licorice, and a hint of black pepper. On the palate it is rich and complex, dominated by ripe dark fruit and spices, with a persistent, engaging finish. Esporão was born in the Alentejo out of an unwavering desire to produce the best wines, a motivation that underpins all its vintages and drives its expansion into other products and territories. Herdade do Esporão, situated in the heart of Alentejo at Reguengos de Monsaraz, benefits from unique agricultural conditions – wide diurnal temperature swings, poor and varied soils, and extraordinary biodiversity that supports balanced production. Covering about 702 hectares of vines, olive trees, and other crops nurtured by the organic production system, it now hosts around 40 grape varieties, four olive types, orchards, and vegetable gardens.
