The story of Montes seems like a dream, and that was exactly how it began, gradually turning into reality. In 1987 our two original founders, Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray, both highly experienced wine professionals, wanted to realize their dream of producing Chilean wines with quality far superior to the standards of the time. In 1988 they were joined by the other two founders, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, who brought their own complementary skills and experiences to the venture. Thus Montes was born, initially under the name Discover Wine. It was a dream that became reality for four great visionaries who managed to take Montes wines from a completely unknown place to over 100 countries worldwide, making first‑grace wines respected and admired by critics and the global trade, and drawing attention to what Chile is capable of producing.
