Founded in 1955 as the Adega Cooperativa da Região do Moscatel de Setúbal, it began operations in 1958. The Adega Cooperativa de Palmela is one of the main development hubs of the municipality, which is predominantly agricultural, and where the vine and wine have historically carried great importance. The principal viticultural area lies on the sandy plain that makes up a large part of the municipality of Palmela. The cooperative started with 50 members and a production that did not exceed 1.5 million litres. Today its output surpasses 8 million litres, with a capacity to reach 10 million, comprising 75 % red wine, 15 % white wine and 10 % Moscatel de Setúbal.
