The 10‑year‑old Moscatel de Setúbal is a sweet wine made from Moscatel Graúdo grapes grown on the Setúbal Peninsula. After a brief halt to the short alcoholic fermentation, it undergoes a six‑month maceration process. Following that, it is aged for eight years in used oak barrels to concentrate and intensify its aromas. As a result, this Moscatel de Setúbal is distinguished by notes of rosemary, dried fruit, and honey, with a long, persistent, and fresh finish. The Herdade Canal Caveira estate lies on the border between two major wine regions – the Setúbal Peninsula and Alentejo – at the foot of the Serra de Grândola, where it benefits from the Atlantic’s maritime influence, creating a unique microclimate. Covering about 45 hectares, of which 25 are planted with vines, the estate also cultivates olives, orange trees, cork oak, almond trees, and pines. The vineyards are planted on sandy soils and comprise around 18 different grape varieties, which broaden the wine profiles, making them elegant, complex, and persistent.
