The production of Moscatel, as a liqueur wine, is similar to the production of Port wine, also resulting in sweet wines whose alcoholic fermentation is stopped by adding grape brandy. After a set period of skin maceration, the moscatel wine is placed in barrels to age and refine its aromatic profile. These wines are made from the various Moscatel grape varieties, internationally known for their aromatic richness and concentration of natural sugars.
