The Quinta do Portal is a Portuguese, family‑owned independent company that wholeheartedly embraced the concept of a “boutique winery.” In addition to producing special‑category Douro and Port wines, it also exclusively produces Douro Moscatel and olive oil. This project, realised in the early 1990s, was based on Quinta dos Muros, a century‑old property owned by the Mansilha family, where Port wine had already been produced for four generations. With a forward‑looking vision, they immediately set out to create internationally‑classic Douro wines, becoming part of the first cohort of the new generation of Dourado producers focused on product quality. Thus, the theme of “sustainability” also became part of daily life at Quinta do Portal, where the vineyards practice integrated production, requiring adherence to specific standards to ensure environmental protection. They are also members of The Porto Protocol, a movement whose values are Sustainability, Optimism, and Sharing, achieved through Responsibility, Collaboration, and Commitment, promoting a world where companies unite their efforts and act together to slow and change climate change.
