According to its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Winery ensures all wines are kept at the proper temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We typically select brands or regions that usually perform well in old‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like everything else, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Winery cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given that it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe first, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image)
