Muxagat is produced from one of the most widely planted varieties in the Douro vineyards. After a manual harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery in 20‑kg crates; following destemming, they naturally ferment under the action of indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks maintained between 24 °C and 28 °C, with a maceration of roughly one month. The wine then ages on fine lees until bottling, in underground concrete vats, for about 10 to 11 months.
