Mário Neves, one of Portugal’s foremost wine ambassadors, launched the Nelson Neves project as a tribute to his father. Breaking from Bairrada tradition, he focused on Bordeaux‑style reds, spotlighting Merlot – the first grape his father planted in the region. The decision proved spot‑on, even impressing renowned French winemaker Michel Rolland, who praised the grape’s potential in Bairrada’s terroir. Influenced by the Atlantic and the clay‑limestone soils, the Nelson Neves wines showcase a fresh, elegant and distinctive Bairrada expression.
