In the national wine panorama, there is no more consensual producer than Niepoort, whose long history begins in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. Starting in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up his business, which would prove prosperous and fruitful. Thus, in the 5th generation, Dirk Niepoort emerged, an indomitable producer in the wine world, recognised as one of the most important figures who has worked—and continues to work—for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also preparing his legacy with those who always create irreverent wines.
