Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up a business that would prove both prosperous and promising. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a force to be reckoned with in the world of wine, recognized as one of the most influential figures who has worked for, and continues to work for, Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and better understand their vineyards, while also shaping his own legacy with those who constantly create bold, unconventional wines.
