In the national wine panorama, there is no producer more consensual than Niepoort, and its long history begins in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort to arrive in Portugal. Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, the business quickly became prosperous and promising. Thus, in the 5th generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, a prominent producer in the wine world, recognized as one of the most important figures who has worked—and continues to work—for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also shaping his own legacy with those who are always creating irreverent wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort collaborates on many other projects, in virtually all of Portugal's wine regions and some overseas ones.
