Niepoort Redoma Branco

Description

The grapes for Redoma Branco come from old vineyards on the right bank of the Douro River, at altitudes ranging between 400 and 600 metres. These vineyards are predominantly planted with the Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Viosinho, Donzelinho and Gouveio varieties. Their schist soils give rise to wines with pronounced minerality, delicacy and great freshness. In the national wine scene, no producer enjoys wider consensus than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842, when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. Entering the Port wine trade as a merchant, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the 5th generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, an indispensable figure in the world of wine and one of the most important personalities who has worked, and continues to work, in favour of Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with several dozen producers, helping them improve their wines and better understand their vineyards, while also preparing his own legacy alongside those with whom he is constantly creating irreverent wines.
