He entered the Port wine market as a trader, quickly establishing a business that would prove both prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a forceful producer in the wine world, recognised as one of the most important figures who has worked—and continues to work—for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also shaping his own legacy with those who continually create bold, irreverent wines.
