In Portugal’s wine landscape, there is no producer more universally respected than Niepoort, and its long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in the country. Starting out as a merchant in the Port wine market, he quickly set up his business, which would prove both prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a pivotal figure in the wine world, recognized as one of the most influential personalities who has worked for, and continues to work for, Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his own legacy alongside those who are constantly creating bold, innovative wines.
