In the national wine landscape, there is no producer more universally respected than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established his business, which would prove to be prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a pivotal figure in the wine world, recognized as one of the most important personalities to have worked, and continues to work, for the benefit of Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his legacy alongside those who are constantly creating bold, unconventional wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort is involved in many other projects, across virtually all Portuguese wine regions and some overseas ones. The bottling year may not match the image shown.
