O Gordo Tinto

Description

O Gordo is a red wine produced at the Encosta do Sobral estate, made from the Castelão, Aragonês and Trincadeira grapes, whose vines are influenced by the temperate Mediterranean climate of Serra de Tomar. After ageing for about four months in French oak barrels, it shows an intense ruby colour, fresh red fruit aromas combined with subtle floral notes. On the palate it is elegant, balanced, with soft tannins that give it a medium persistence and a medium‑long finish. Santos & Seixo is a family‑owned company, formed by two families. Alzira dos Santos and Pedro Seixo dreamed of reviving the histories of both families and dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to wine. The dream became reality when they harvested their first vintages in the country’s most emblematic regions, Douro and Alentejo, in 2010. The project grew, and today the family owns estates and produces wine in the Douro, Alentejo and the Vinho Verde region. In a blend of modern and traditional approaches, from the meticulous selection of grapes to production and oak barrel ageing, all processes are carried out to preserve the grape’s authenticity to the maximum.
