Description

Grotte Alte is a special place, but it is also a wine from the Cerasuolo di Vittoria appellation, made from equal parts Frappato and Nero d’Avola. Its producer describes it as “a Mediterranean wine that preserves the sea’s sapidity and all the thermal and atmospheric breadth of the Iblei mountains.” The wine is harmonious, aged for four years in oak barrels, and offers a nose rich in red and wild fruit, with herbal nuances and a slightly salty finish. For Arianna Occhipinti herself, it is the most ambitious wine in her entire portfolio.
