This Oceânico from Rocim in the Azores is a seriously bold venture onto volcanic soils. The Arinto grape, so emblematic of Pico Island, bursts forth with a remarkable freshness, evoking the sea – a result of fermentation in a used oak balseiro (barrel) and a stage with the lees. Truly a wine deserving of pairing with some freshly shucked shellfish or a beautifully grilled fish.
