The Oremus Aszú 5 Puttonyos is a fascinating wine crafted by the Hungarian estate Tempos Vega Sierra. Hailing from vineyards listed on the UNESCO World Heritage catalogue, it is produced in centuries‑old underground cellars and is regarded as one of the world’s best in its class. The “5 Puttonyos” designation signals an intermediate level of sweetness (the house’s range is 3 to 6). The term “Puttonyos” – literally “baskets” in Hungarian – refers to the quantity of botrytised aszú grapes: each basket equals 25 kg of hand‑picked fruit, and the more baskets, the sweeter the final wine. It is served in 50‑centilitre bottles.
