This “Original” from Bairrada is a fascinating study in letting the weather dictate the quality. Nuno Bastos clearly took the soil’s influence very seriously, resulting in a wine that’s remarkably complex and concentrated. The Baga and Touriga Nacional vines truly shine, with the subtle French oak playing a supporting role. A fantastic pairing would be with a hearty lamb stew – a match worthy of that “Arribe De Oro” award, wouldn’t you say?
