The Pacheca Estate, one of the most renowned properties in the Douro, stands out for being one of the first to bottle its own branded wines. The estate’s name has been recorded since 17 April 1738, when a dated document first references the “da Pacheca” estate, owned by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It was not until 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in enology, purchasing the property with the goal of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family—Maria, Catarina, and José—assumes management of the estate, bringing a youthful, familial spirit to the business.
