Pacheca Vale de Abraão is made from grapes grown on the Quinta de Vale de Abraão, from vineyards in the Vale do Rio Pinhão and the Vale da Vilariça. Comprising 50% Touriga Franca and 50% Touriga Nacional, it presents an elegant aroma with violet and orange blossom notes, plus a subtle touch of oak spice. On the palate it reveals complexity, with polished tannins, chocolate hints and an implied freshness. The finish is long and very persistent. The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most renowned estates in the Douro, stands out for being among the first to bottle wines under its own label. The estate’s name has been referenced since 17 April 1738, when the first document mentions the Quinta “da Pacheca” owned by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in enology, buying the property with the aim of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family—Maria, Catarina and José—takes over the estate: the young faces of this distinctly family‑run enterprise.
