Pai Horácio A special 1945 edition of bottles that pays tribute to the life, strength, and character of Horácio Lourenço Pai Horácio 1945 is born as a tribute to a larger-than-life figure of the Lourenço family, celebrating his legacy, vision, and deep connection to the land. It is a wine of character, identity, and memory, produced in a very limited edition. Every detail has been carefully considered to reinforce a unique identity. The bottle is composed of several layers that unfold as it is explored. The central element is a leather band that wraps the bottle, symbolising the bond between father and son, family, and friendship. This gesture represents affection, unity, and the memories shared with Pai Horácio, who, even after his passing, left a legacy of love and dedication. Thus, “Pai Horácio 1945” asserts itself as a design piece charged with emotion, strengthening the link between producer, recipient, and connoisseur of this achievement. Vintner Year: 2021 will be marked by a harvest of great freshness and elegance. The winter was harsh, with good rainfall levels, allowing vines to build substantial water reserves to withstand the hot days of August without significant water stress. The first rains, early in September, made the harvest particularly challenging, demanding high adaptability and planning throughout the day. This rigor was decisive in achieving the desired excellence. Vinification: The grapes come from several selected varieties grown on plots planted by Horácio Lourenço, situated between 130 and 700 metres in altitude, on slate and/or granite soils. It is a mosaic of distinct micro‑terroirs, each with its own identity. For this wine, winemaker Jorge Lourenço took the selection even further, even parceling plots to extract the best from each micro‑terroir and enhance the individual expression of each variety. Technological intervention is minimalistic, using granite vats with hand crushing. After fermentation, with about a week of ageing, the wine moved to stainless‑steel tanks where it clarified naturally. Following malolactic fermentation, it was transferred to French oak barrels, where it aged for about 18 months. Bottling: January 2024. Storage: A wine of great complexity, with excellent ageing potential. Service: Decanting is recommended. Ideal for celebratory days, brightening oven‑roasted dishes.
