This Alvarinho from Palácio da Brejoeira is a delightfully perplexing sweetness. Born from those distinctive clay-limestone soils, it delivers a vibrant straw colour and a nose brimming with the character – as lauded by Eng. João Garrido – of this noble grape, offering remarkable originality. A six-month ageing in bottle has smoothed things out, but this wine stubbornly refuses to be ignored, boasting a finish that demands appreciation – particularly when paired with a delicate white fish dish to temper its spirited personality. The Wine Spectator certainly agreed, awarding it 74/100, a clear indication of a wine that demands your full attention.
