This Patina Chenin Blanc, born straight from the Goldmine Farm in Swartland, is a testament to the power of dedication – literally, captured in the ‘patina’ of the miners’ tools. The grapes, flourishing in schist and granite-rich soils, perfectly embody the Mediterranean terroir, with cool nights balancing beautifully with the daytime heat. A third of the fermentation happened spontaneously in concrete eggs, alongside whole-cluster pressing and ageing in seasoned oak barrels, creating a remarkably concentrated yet incredibly elegant wine. Having earned a 93/100 from Tim Atkin MW, it’s a fantastic match for slow-cooked pork with fruit compote or a seafood dish featuring plenty of lemon.
