The Pegos Claros Castelão Vinhas Velhas Reserva red wine is made from historic vines about 70 years old, hand‑picked and transported in 20‑kg small crates. The grapes are stomped on foot on the first day and partially fermented with a splash of lees in the vat, followed by 12 months of ageing in used French oak barrels. It shows a ruby colour and an expressive aroma of red fruit, blackcurrant and plum, wrapped in delicate vanilla notes and elegant wood roasts, perfectly integrated. On the palate it is rich and elegant, with soft tannins and a harmonious finish, reflecting all the authenticity and tradition of the Castelão grape.
