The Agricultural Society of Sossega, owner of Monte do Pintor, was founded in 1991 with the primary aim of producing and marketing wines. In 1995 the first regional Alentejo wine under the Monte do Pintor label began to be sold. The vineyards are planted on gentle south‑facing slopes with soils characterised by a distinct terroir. The plantings mainly include the traditional Alentejo reds Trincadeira and Aragonez, as well as Castelão, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Caiada, Alicante, and Moreto, alongside the whites Verdelho, Arinto and Antão Vaz.
