Description

This Peripécia Merlot, from Quinta do Cerrado da Porta, is a tale of redemption – beautifully told. Following a well-deserved period in both stainless steel and French oak, the wine reveals a complexity hinting at flawless maturation, with prominent notes of ripe plum promising a lingering finish and a subtle herbaceous undertone. It’s a shame the Quinta, which only had 3 hectares and was in a sorry state back in 1996, didn’t seem to influence the wine – just a lovely family story, of course. Pairs wonderfully with a hearty roast, perhaps with a generous pinch of black pepper.
