This “Piano” from the Douro is a delightful little performance – a sunshine-yellow expression brimming with Viosinho, Gouveio and Moscatel. Awarded the People’s Choice Wine Awards, it’s a wine that clearly knows how to conduct itself. The careful fermentation, akin to orchestrating a symphony, preserves that vibrant tropical fruit freshness and the Douro’s characteristic acidity. Following a 9-month battonage in French oak barrels, it rests another 6 months in the bottle, unveiling a complexity that’s simply exquisite. Wonderful with grilled fish or delicate game birds, really.
