This Vinho Verde, from Pires & Turner, is the product of a frankly rather intense dedication to precision – almost a scientific pursuit, really. The meticulous hand-harvesting using a 25kg “caixa” speaks volumes about the care taken, guided by enologist Mafalda Magalhães. The granite soil, combined with a south-west facing exposure, delivers a wonderfully vibrant freshness, while four months of batonnage subtly deepens the complexity. Seriously, this would be exquisite with a grilled white fish – a match made in wine heaven.
