Poças is produced from traditional grapes of the Demarcated Douro Region, sourced from the higher zones (600 m) of the Vale de Cavalos estate, in a transition area between slate and granite, ensuring freshness. Maturation in second‑year French oak barrels confers complexity and structure. Food pairing suggestions: grouper stewed with herbs, seafood rice, Brás‑style cod, asparagus risotto. Quality: DOC Douro. Origin: Demarcated Douro Region. Sub‑region: Numão (Upper Douro). Vine age: 10–20 years. Soil type: Slate. Harvest: grapes hand‑picked and selected on the vineyard. Vinification: 30 % Rabigato; 35 % Gouveio; 15 % Códega; 20 % Viosinho. Fermentation at controlled temperature. Aging: 30 % of the batch aged 6 months in second‑year barrels (300 L), with fine lees stirring. Winemaker: André Pimentel Barbosa.
