The year was marked by a very dry winter with low temperatures. The cycle began with the highest temperatures recorded since 1931, followed by a November with significant rainfall and a period of no precipitation and low average temperatures from December to early March. In March there was a notable temperature rise, but it did not affect the bud burst, which spread widely during the third and fourth weeks of the month. Vegetative growth proceeded slowly throughout the cycle (due to the lack of rainfall), though May stood out with high temperatures and rainfall, which increased disease pressure. Harvest, however, was good. There was a large temperature swing in July and August, with rain falling on August 14 and 15—crucial for good ripening—and in the last days of September, boosting the grapes’ quality for picking. Also, a hailstorm on 25 July in Celeirós destroyed 90 % of the production in our affected vines. Prizes 90 pts: Robert Parker Allergen information Contains sulfites.
