Description

The Herdade do Monte da Ribeira dates back to 1958, having been acquired in 1986 by industrialist Victor Carmona e Costa, who over the next 15 years not only completely renovated the estate but also established the current productive agricultural structure and winery. The estate is located in the parish of Pedrogão, belonging to the municipality of Vidigueira and near the village of Marmelar. As such, it covers an area of about 1,100 hectares, dedicated to viticulture and forestry. With wine production being one of the main focuses of the estate, the first vineyard was planted in 1989 and the first harvest came in 1992, marketed under the Vidigueira brand. Later, the Pousio and Quatro Caminhos brands were added and, more recently, the Marmelar brand. (illustrative image only)
