In 1770, the Abbey of Montserrat ordered the construction of Finca L’Aranyó, an inhospitable outcrop in a region known for its extreme climate and harsh conditions. The rebellious monks were sent there, carrying out their penance by working the land. They were the ones who discovered a terroir with great potential for crafting a superior wine. According to legend, large barrels mysteriously vanished, though others claimed angels whisked them away to the heavens. Now, with the 2022 vintage, we have the opportunity to prove the grandeur of this fully mystical wine, already completing its tenth harvest. To celebrate this milestone, the blend now includes, for the first time, the ancestral variety Gonfaus, replacing Cariñena and Syrah. Thus, while adapting to climate change, the Torres family embraces a unique proposal focused on the region’s native grapes.
