This Quinta da Alameda Special Reserva clearly went to some lengths to impress. Twelve months in new French oak – a well-worn tactic – followed by another twelve in the bottle, suggests a pursuit of complexity that, let’s be honest, probably came with a hefty price tag. Blended with Baga, Aragonez, Tinto Cão and Touriga Nacional, this Dão wine has the potential to shine alongside classic Portuguese snacks like cod fritters or a good, slow-roasted pork joint.
