The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most renowned estates in the Douro, is distinguished for having been among the first to bottle wines under its own label. Its name has been documented since April 17, 1738, when a dated record first mentions the “Quinta da Pacheca,” owned at the time by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It wasn’t until 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing passion for enology, purchasing the estate with the aim of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family has taken over the management of the Quinta: Maria, Catarina, and José are the youthful faces of this deeply family‑oriented enterprise.
