The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most well‑known estates in the Douro, stands out for having been among the first to bottle wines under its own brand. The estate’s name has been documented since April 17, 1738, when a dated record first mentions the “Quinta da Pacheca,” as it was owned by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in oenology, purchasing the property with the aim of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family takes over the estate’s management: Maria, Catarina, and José are the young faces of this family‑run business.
