This Pellada Casa, from Quinta da Pellada, genuinely seems to have soaked up the Dão sun – and it shows. The bright notes of bergamot tea and orange peel violet, with a hint of dark chocolate, really come from their “most exposed” vineyard parcel. That rich, clay-granite soil is beautifully balanced by a touch of pink quartz, creating a wine with fantastic structure and a surprisingly firm mouthfeel. Robert Parker himself called it a food wine, and it’s absolutely perfect alongside a hearty beef roast or some perfectly grilled steak.
