This Encruzado, born at a rather humbling 500 metres on granitic soils, delivers a wine intensely rooted in the Dão’s slopes. The granite – combined with the clay – gives it a truly vibrant acidity and a complexity that rewards patience. Five years in oak barrels, without any battonage, have delicately unveiled the fruit nuances, resulting in a remarkably smooth texture. A fantastic match for a perfectly grilled fish, perhaps with almonds – a classic pairing, but undeniably delightful.
