This Talhões do Dão, a winner of Great Choices, doesn’t immediately grab you with its colour – it’s a little more reserved than its neighbour, the “Talhão nº 1”. But the payoff is a wonderfully ripe and expressive fruit profile, with a pronounced caraway note that really captures the essence of the Serra do Dão, and a delicate floral whisper reflecting the region’s abundance. On the palate, it’s resolutely focused, boasting an acidity that’s quite bold – a genuine reflection of its old vines and unique terroir. Wonderful with rich, intense flavours, ideally paired with game or cured meats.
