This Quinta da Plansel Tinta Barroca is clearly a wine made with meticulous care – a mere 35 hectolitres per hectare, hand-harvested and macerated on the lagares at a cool 25°C. The result is a wine brimming with character. Twelve months ageing in French oak have added a welcome smoothness, without sacrificing the distinctive expression of this robust grape. It’s a fantastic match for richer beef dishes, or even a slow-cooked lamb – a wine that perfectly balances the grape’s inherent rustic charm with the elegance imparted by the oak.
