This Quinta da Vacaria Reserva, born in a Douro that’s witnessed centuries – since 1616, no less! – is a true homage to tradition, with a vibrancy you can genuinely taste. The firm tannins, courtesy of the Touriga Nacional, hold the wine with a grace only the world’s oldest demarcated region can bestow. Expect notes of spice and ripe fruit, beautifully supported by Touriga Franca, a reminder of the Douro where the Rabelo boats once carried Port, before losing its character to be bottled under a different brand. Absolutely brilliant with a perfectly grilled beef steak and a hearty crusty bread.
