Description

It is a wine made from grapes sourced from vineyards over 15 years old, with reduced yields, and aged in used French oak barrels acquired in the Burgundy region. The aroma is fruity, mineral and very complex, with notes of compote, bergamot and spices. On the palate it is firm, with plenty of well-integrated acidity and a long finish. The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not mean much to the uninitiated, but he is none other than the great mentor behind the outstanding wines of Quinta das Bágeiras. The history of Quinta das Bágeiras spans the work of three generations, yet it was only in 1989, under the guidance of Mário Sérgio, that the Quinta das Bágeiras wines began to be bottled and sold, quickly becoming a benchmark for wines from Bairrada and throughout Portugal. Although produced according to the methods of previous generations, Quinta das Bágeiras wines are not wines of passing trends; rather, they are always in fashion, revealing with each harvest the character of the region and of the people who make them.
