The Agricultural Company of Sanguinhal was founded in the 1920s by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the Bombarral region. At that time, Abel Pereira da Fonseca owned the largest chain of public sales outlets in the country, using his position to create a company dedicated solely to the production and trade of wines. The Agricultural Company of Sanguinhal consists of three estates: Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras, and Quinta de São Francisco, located in the Lisbon Wine Region, more specifically in the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. Here the estates benefit from a microclimate provided by the Montejunto Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, which gives the still, fortified, and spirit wines a fresh and balanced profile, revealing their unique character.
