“This white from Quinta de Foz de Arouce presents a delightful paradox – despite seven months ageing in 20% new and 80% second-fill French oak barrels, it exudes an elegance that speaks of much deeper roots. The batonnage, with its constant feast of yeast, contributes a remarkably complex aromatic profile, showcasing notes of lime, tangerine, and a subtle hint of fennel. Producer João Portugal Ramos has clearly striven to balance the oak influence with the identity of the Cerceal grape. The wine boasts a pronounced acidity, providing a solid structure, and finishes long and persistent – as if King Arunce himself were carefully guarding a fine vintage. A wine that undoubtedly honours the estate’s history and its prime location in the Serra da Lousã hills.”
