Quinta de Saes Made from 70 % old vines (mixed varieties) and 30 % Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro, this wine reveals a very fine yet complex aromatic profile. Highlights include notes of moss and pine, combined with high‑quality forest fruit. It is a red wine that stands out for its great balance, with smooth tannins, remarkable lightness and a very appealing freshness. Vines and Terroir The vines, about 45 years old, are planted at 500 m altitude on granite soils with veins of sand and clay, with an approximate density of 5 000 vines per hectare. Pruning system: Guyot. Vinification and Stage 70 % old vines (field blend). 30 % Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro. The 2019 vintage had temperatures close to the 20‑year average, while precipitation remained below that average. During summer, the lower temperatures during the pruning‑maturation period favored a slow, steady and homogeneous maturation, creating ideal conditions for high‑quality grapes. Harvest was carried out in two passes, with rigorous selection in the vineyard. After a second selection in the cellar, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts took place in temperature‑controlled stainless‑steel vats. The wine aged for 24 months in second‑year Allier oak barrels.
