Quinta de Santa Teresa The name Esculpido was born from the striking image of some old vines at Quinta de Santa Teresa, true living sculptures shaped and refined by the passage of time. Produced exclusively from the grapes of these Avesso vines, situated between 190 and 300 metres in altitude, this wine seeks to express the exceptional quality of the terroir and the grape variety. Certified under organic production methods and crafted with traditional techniques, it reflects an authentic and nature‑respecting approach. Vinification The grapes were hand‑picked and transported to the cellar in 24‑kg crates. After a rigorous manual selection, they underwent racking, pellicle maceration, and a gentle pneumatic pressing. Fermentation took place in French oak barrels, where the wine remained for about a year. After stabilization, it was bottled in July 2025. This wine is suitable for vegan consumers, as the entire winemaking process was conducted without any animal‑derived additives, using only a small amount of sulfites. The 2023 Harvest The 2022 winter was marked by abundant precipitation, replenishing the soil’s water reserves. Spring was unstable, especially in April, with frequent temperature and rainfall swings. In June, above‑average rain favoured the appearance of vine diseases, necessitating preventive treatments in a particularly challenging year. Temperatures began to rise in July and intensified in August, though not reaching the extremes of the previous year. Some rain in early September contributed to a positive balance in grape maturation. The Avesso variety harvest began on 28 August.
