Quinta do Cardo The Superior White Wine from Quinta do Cardo is a high‑altitude, biodynamic DOC Beira Interior wine. Crafted with a wisdom rooted in nearly a century of viticultural knowledge, these wines stand out for the sensory and cultural experience they deliver and for their unique personality, full of rare quality and integrity. With a refined structure, fresh, light, and authentic, the whites are aromatic and elegant. The granitic geological matrix of the Beira Interior Plateau imparts a fresh, mineral character to Quinta do Cardo wines. Quinta do Cardo’s biodynamic production method—a pioneer in Portugal—preserves native fauna and flora, fostering biodiversity in our agricultural ecosystem and having a strong impact on the final quality of the wines produced here. In the 1930s the first wine was produced at Quinta do Cardo, called Branco Maia. In 1986 the first white wine was bottled under the Quinta do Cardo label. The brand’s reputation shot up quickly and positioned itself among Portugal’s great wines, giving much prestige and strength to the then little‑known Beira Interior. The Beira Interior white wines display a color ranging from lemon‑yellow to straw‑yellow, with very rich and varied fruity aromatic notes. On the palate they are moderately full‑bodied, not overly alcoholic, and distinguished by a pronounced high acidity that defines them. They have good mouth persistence and longevity.
