This wine from Quinta do Javali is certainly an adventure for the palate. Initially, the nose bursts with ripe apricot, caramelized orange, and honey that’s clearly been on holiday. You can genuinely feel the influence of the traditional *lagar* – a true throwback! – with earthy and resinous notes that pique your curiosity. On the palate, a pronounced acidity is balanced by smooth, well-integrated tannins from the whole berries, and a subtle oak toast, perfectly enhanced by the Douro’s unique terroir. It’s a match made in heaven with some traditional Portuguese chevre or, perhaps, a hearty cod dish to tame its complexity.
